MTC - Week 3 - July 7, 2011

Dearest Familia,

Sounds like yall have had a pretty fun weekend going to the lakehouse and such even though it wasnt done...im quite jealous!! Also its good to hear that you have been your same old selves trying to translate the spanish during sacrament meeting, im sad i missed it!! I actually had my first spanish sacrament meeting on sunday (last week we had an MTC wide conference) but thankfully i was able to translate a little bit better than you guys could!! Also tell Graham that i tell him congrats and that im super excited for him!!!! When does he report to the MTC? And also the pictures that i got in the album that you sent were just perfect :) Gracias!

So this week has been a really amazing week! We had a fireside on Tuesday night that was really good! The speaker was Elder Kofford who is in the first quorum of the seventy and he talked about the two most important things that we need to do as a missionary. These are to be obedient and understanding the spirit. This was really cool because i think last week we heard a quote from someone that said "Obedience will bring happiness, while Exact Obedience will bring Miracles." This quote has really stuck with me and helped me to make sure im not trying to find loopholes in the rules of the MTC or even Gods commandments, cause i know Me and everyone else needs these miracles in their lives. Also he talked about being able to understand the spirit and to recognize it. He said that the best way to do this is to have a quite time every day where you can just reflect on life and every blessing that you have been given and you will be able to recieve that personal revelation you need. I have truly seen this in the lessons that Elder Son and i have taught so far. In fact on Saturday we taught someone in Spanish and the love i could feel for him and the spirit i felt was amazing as we taught him with the spirit, in fact i felt as if the spanish was coming straight out of my mouth without any problems or issues at all, it was fantastic and truly a testimony builder.

Also, saturday night was really awesome cause we had the opportunity to have a patriotic devotional thing and it was really touching as they talked about how God truly helped to bless the founders of America so that the Jospeh Smith could restore the gospel to the earth in this country. Then at the end we sang praise to the man and at the moment i had never had a stronger testimony that Joseph Smith is truly a prophet of God and that he did translate the Book of Mormon and did in fact talk to god. After we got to see the Stadium of fire fireworks and it was really cool.

So just a few last things could you dear elder me megans adress and make sure i have at least 100 dollars in my account? thankesLioves

Plano Balloon Festival

#31 - Go BEARS!

This has been a fun week!

Thursday evening was arts/music night at the elementary school.  Nick had a really fun time and Matt bounced around from one activity to the next.  They had drums, an instrument petting zoo, and art projects for activities.

Friday night we went to the world famous Plano Balloon Festival.  We arrived just as the evening balloon take off was happening.  Then we walked around the various booths, collected lots of stickers, and spun the wheel to win some prizes.  After dark they had a "balloon glow" where you could walk around the balloon launch area and watch them light up.  It was pretty awesome.  Finally, we waited in line for the kids to go on the bungee jump trampoline thing.

Saturday we went to Nicholas' football game which they won 21-0.  Nick liked getting to play running back for part of the game.

Things that broke this week:  air conditioning on the Lexus; the liftgate on the Suburban, and the air blower on the spa.

Matt's quote for the week comes from the bungee jump trampoline at the festival when he said "I'm petrified."  The guy who worked there commented that he had never heard a 5 year old use the word "petrified" before.  That's our Matt.
